Project Reveal: The Fashion Parlour
Bespoke and personalized spaces are our speciality at The Modern Vic, and today, we’re revealing our latest project, designed for a sweet, yet very bold fashionista with a rebellious side.
Our client dreamed of a dressing room with ample storage and beautiful, personalized design for her newly purchased 1947 single family home in San Francisco’s Sunnyside neighborhood. With a love for vintage furnishings and decor with a quirky edge, she wanted to turn her second bedroom into a fashion haven.
Above all, the dressing room had to be functional with ample storage for an extensive fashion collection, with both display and concealed storage. One of our favorite features is the custom library ladder for reaching the upper cubbies. It’s an incredibly functional component for storage access, but also adds tons of personality and style.
We chose materials and finishes to tell the story of a glamorous parlour: brass fixtures, luxurious rose-colored wallpapers, high-gloss plum paint and moss green accents. Moody lighting and the serpent wallpaper that adorns the ceiling gives the space a little bit of edge, while the silky wall pale pink wallcovering provides a softening effect.
The custom mohair vanity chair and calacatta viola marble vanity top continue our story of bespoke drama and glamor. We designed the custom window seat with contrasting fabrics and inset bolsters for a comfortable view of the beautiful garden.
We designed the rift cut white oak built-in banquette for additional storage and a family breakfast nook. We also designed the arched valences for the window and vent hood. As our clients said, these custom touches made their home truly feel like “a work of art.”
In addition to the dressing room, we refreshed this client’s kitchen, living room and dining room–and we’re nearly done with the finishing touches. Stay tuned on Instagram for more updates and inspiration from this Sunnyside home!
