Customized Kitchens
Kitchens are no longer just a place to prepare meals. They’re the hub of the home and an entertainment space for family and friends.
For a young gourmet-cooking couple in their first home in San Francisco, we designed an open galley kitchen with beautiful high end appliances. Their home, constructed in 1916, has many original details that inspired our kitchen design. Bold color on the main cabinets, bright pops of brass, and the natural textures of oak and Carrara marble complete the classic look.

A family of five living in the most adorable 1930s bungalow in West Portal hired The Modern Vic to create a period-appropriate kitchen.
We designed a built-in banquette with tons of storage for a family-style eat-in kitchen. Custom valences for the vent hood and window, as well as colorful wallpaper make this space vintage 1930s, but also a fun family space for meals, homework and game night.

Kitchens are some of the most complex spaces we design here at The Modern Vic. From the appliances to the cabinet pulls, we think through every detail with our clients in mind so they love to cook and entertain in their new kitchen.
When we begin a kitchen design, we ask our clients to complete our Kitchen Planning Guide. The Guide gives us detailed information about what you like about your current kitchen, what isn’t working, and how you envision using your new space.
If you’re thinking of a kitchen remodel, this is the kind of “homework” you want to give yourself. Dig into the details of what works in your space and what does not. Think about your small appliance use, your morning coffee routine, and if you’re a gourmet or a quick meal prep kind of chef! Knowing how you use your space vs. how you’d like to use it is the way to get started.
